Description Rather peaceful fish except during spawning. Can be slightly aggressive towards conspecies. In the wild, these fish are found in tea-coloured water where there are abundance decaying vegetation. A high aquarium tank will benefit these fish better due to their oval shaped body.
To get a pair, it is generally easier to get a group of young fish and raise them to maturity. A male and female would pair off and 300-400 eggs can be laid in each spawn. Commercially available cone-shaped breeding aids (used for Discus) can also be used.
Uraus are very good parents and provide excellent parental care to their brood.
