Profile and Description of African Cichlids

Description & Profile of Tropheus  Duboisi

Profile:

Distribution : Lake Tanganyika.

Size : Up to 8 inches.

PH : 7.4 to 8.

Temperature : 240 C to 300

Hardness : Hard to very hard water.

Diet :  Herbivorous diet primarily made up of aufwuchs, which is a type of green algae. Feed them vegetable flakes and occasionally blench vegetables such as spinach and cucumber. 

Breeding : Mouth brooders. Fries are released within 28 to 30 days. 

Sexual Difference :  Males are normally bigger but difficult to differentiate. 

 

Description:

A highly active tropheus but the most easy to keep. The young Tropheus is black with white polka dots that eventually give way to either a white of yellow bar (depending on the variant vertically down the front of the fish. Some fishes maintain their polka dot suit even into their adulthood. Maintain 1-2 males with groups of females.
