Description:
This
beginner cichlid has the appearance of a convict suit with black
body and white strips. There are a couple of other variants such as
albino and pink convicts.
These
cichlids prefer the typical Central America aquarium type of set-up with rocks
and caves. Upturned pots are quickly occupied. They can dig during
spawning.
Convict
cichlids can be quite easy to sex, put a pair together with plenty of food and
good water condition, spawning is a given. The parents guards the fries
jealously and all other fish are chased away.

I
like the activeness and character of the convict cichlids. During spawning, they
can often hold off much bigger fish. Their aggressiveness is also their
attractiveness.
Likes
: Active, full of character.
Dislikes
: Aggressive.
